Ernest Joseph Buechel (1919 - 2007)
Ernest Joseph Buechel Sr., born in Koblenz, Germany on August 6, 1919, was a Master Modeler (railroad and ship builder). He was also well known as a talented oil painter and pencil artist.
Buechel Sr., immigrated to New Jersey with his family from Germany in 1936 only three years after Adolph Hitler was declare that country's chancellor. Buechel Sr., later served honorably in the United States Army.
After the war, Buechel Sr., worked at the Dover Handbag Factory in Netcong, New Jersey. He retired in 1950 and then devoted his life to his family and his art.
On June 30, 2007, Buechel Sr., passed at the age of 87 at the Toms River Community Hospital following a short illness. Yet his work lives on though his son Eric Buechel.
Buechel Sr., is survived by his wife of 65 years, Josephine Buechel, his six children, 26 grandchildren and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

During the next few months we will be adding another page to this website highlighting nearly all of Master Modeler Ernest J. Buechel's( 1919-2007) models. The collection can be seen at our gallery during regular business hours. My father was considered one of the top model makers in the United States and has won many awards for his eye for detail.
The collection of model ships are not for sale. Images may be used providing the website is noted and Ernest J. Buechel Sr. is credited.
