HOW TO BE AN ARTIST
Stay loose, learn to watch clouds, plant impossible gardens, invite someone out for coffee, make little signs that say yes! Post them all over your house, make friends with freedom and uncertainty, look forward to dreams, cry during movies, swing as high as you can on a a swing set by moonlight, cultivate moods, refuse to be overly responsible, search for truth, draw a picture in the park, read a poem, do it for love, take lots of naps, don't wear socks, give money away, do it now, the money will follow, go camping, believe in magic, thank God for your talent, laugh a lot, learn about George Inness, give yourself personal time every day, celebrate every gorgeous moment, paint a giant picture, say-I can do it, plant a rose in the middle of the woods, stand near a waterfall, look at shadows, take hot baths by candle light, watch The Secret, have wild imaginings, dream in color, be calm, paint on floors and ceilings, read everything, imagine the impossible, look in the mirror and ask yourself who is Picasso, giggle with children, listen to old people, open up, define yourself, go to a drive-in movie, be free, bless yourself, listen to young people, drive away fear, play with everything, turn the TV off, don't pay attention to the news for a week, look at the stars through a telescope, learn to pray, get to know yourself, entertain your inner child, learn from the masters, build a fort with blankets, eat desert first, get wet the next time it rains, hug a tree, build a tree fort, write love letters, go to a museum by yourself, throw paint on the ceiling, stay up late, take a day off from work, get a soaker in a lake, create yourself.

STEPPING ON A NUDE
At the arty
restaurant I was quite
taken. An over size
nudelay on the floor
between tables. She was dressed in
clear varnish. I had to step on her
breastin order to access my
place. I could feel her
through my shoes --a kind of tingling in
my feet. Did anyone
notice?
